TALKING A GOOD GAME
Heart-felt tributes to Tommy Burns were made after the Celtic coach sadly lost his battle with skin cancer last week.
The inspirational 51-year-old will be missed not just at Celtic Football Club where he was the most loyal of servants but across the whole of Scottish football.
?I don?t think you will find anyone on this earth who has a bad word to say about him.? Lisbon Lion Tommy Gemmell.
?I will remember him as a very good footballer but more than that a great human being.? Former Celtic team mate Davie Provan.
?You would never hear anybody in football say a bad word about Tommy Burns and to have been involved in football for so long, that?s quite an accolade.? Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist.
?Tommy was a fantastically humble guy who never forgot his roots. He was a genuine human being and a fantastic player, a fantastic coach, a Celtic legend, and he?ll be sadly missed.? Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish.
?His death robs Scottish football of one of its most inspirational figures of modern times and one of the nicest people in football.? Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
POMPEY END 69-YEAR TROPHY DROUGHT
Kanu?s first-half goal was enough to give Portsmouth victory in the FA Cup final as the club ended their 69-year trophy drought.
No one will be more pleased than Pompey boss Harry Redknapp who has had a tougher season off the field than most managers.
His house was raided by police following investigations into corruption in football and last month his wife?s twin sister Pat, wife of Frank Lampard Snr and mother of Chelsea?s Frank Lampard Jnr, died of pneumonia.
It was a costly mistake from Peter Enckleman that handed Portsmouth the cup. However Cardiff City gave Portsmouth a tough match and the underdogs certainly did Wales and Championship football proud.
CELTIC FAVOURITES GOING INTO LAST DAY OF SEASON
A few weeks ago the metaphorical managerial vultures were flying threateningly over Gordon Strachan?s head. Now the Celtic gaffer is on the verge of becoming the first manager since Jock Stein to lead the Hoops to three successive titles after Rangers only managed a point against Motherwell.
However the title is by no means a certainty with Dundee United and Rangers? opponents Aberdeen likely to both put up a good fight against both halves of the Old Firm in the final matches of the season. Expect plenty of twists and turns on Thursday night in a nerve-wracking end to the championship.
