TALKING A GOOD GAME
"It was brilliant - he looked like Freddie Mercury."
Rangers midfielder Lee McCulloch on Kris Boyd's dodgy moustache that the striker had on display at the Scottish Cup final.
"Very flattering, the more fans you've got the better."
Andy Murray?s reaction to topping a survey among gay men over which tennis player they would most like to go on a date with.
?Well that was much Adu about nothing, really!"
Mark Lawrenson during England?s recent friendly with USA after a woeful Freddy Adu free-kick.
RONALDO FOR REAL?
Apparently Cristiano Ronaldo, the world?s hottest footballing property, is on the verge of leaving Manchester United to sign on for a big fat pay cheque at Real Madrid. The talented forward is reportedly being offered £300,000 per week to join the Bernabeu side next season.
Sir Alex Ferguson is furious at the public courting of Ronaldo, who still has four years left on his £120,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford. Manchester United are set to complain to FIFA about the Spanish club?s attempts to lure the Portugal international to Spain. After seeing David Beckham and Ruud Van Nistelrooy depart for Real Madrid in recent times, the Manchester United fans would be distraught if they lost another one of their star players to the Spanish club.
PORTUGAL LOOKING A GOOD BET
Portugal were in impressive form in their opening fixture of Group A as they cruised to a 2-0 victory over Turkey. The side?s attacking approach was underlined when centre-half Pepe surged forward to a play a one-two with Nuno Gomes before opening the scoring. Raul Meireles wrapped up the three points late on. Spain, France, Italy and Germany have all been tipped to do well in Euro 2008 but it would take a brave man to rule out Luiz Felipe Scolari?s men.
AGONY FOR HAMILTON
Lewis Hamilton looked to have the Canadian Grand Prix in the bag until a careless error dashed his chances of victory. The young Brit crashed into the back of Ferrari?s Kimi Raikkonen as the Finn waited on a red light at the end of the pit lane.
BMW?s Robert Kubica went on to drive the race of his life and win the first Formula One victory of his career. But it wasn?t all bad news for the British drivers as David Coulthard finished in third place.
