Honestly, do I look bothered? I've been bashed by the Irish media but am I supposed to go against what I truly believe just to please them? Am I supposed to put a Viking in the team so I get less criticism from Scandinavia?"
European Ryder Cup captain Nick Faldo isn?t scared of his critics.
"He rang me before he got on the plane to tell me he didn't have a key, so I waited up for him."
Theo Walcott's mum, Lynn, who had to wait up for her teenage son to return after his heroic hat-trick for England against Croatia.
"I've got so much respect for him. I'm not licking his bum, I'm just saying everyone knows he's a model pro."
West Ham striker Carlton Cole is full of praise for new boss Gianfranco Zola.
FALDO?S FAULT FOR RYDER FAILURE
Nick Faldo must accept a large part of the blame for Europe?s failure to successfully defend the Ryder Cup against the USA. Paul Azinger?s team secured a comprehensive 16.5-11.5 victory by winning seven of the 12 singles matches on the final day.
Faldo elected to leave his strongest players such as Padraig Harrington, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood until the last few pairs, which appeared a risky strategy given that the Europeans were already 9-7 behind going into the singles event. In hindsight the European captain may have opted for a more top-heavy approach as the Ryder Cup was won by the Americans with four matches still left undecided. Had we won a few more of the earlier points some of the weaker players in the team may have rose to the occasion. Instead the contest was effectively over before our big guns got the chance to put any points on the board.
One saving grace for Faldo was the performance of Ian Poulter who more than justified his wildcard selection with a string of impressive and passionate performances. However Faldo?s demeanour throughout his role as captain, particularly at the press conferences prior to the competition, will make him the perfect scapegoat for Europe?s failure.
DONS STRUGGLE AT HOME AGAIN
Aberdeen have only picked up one point in four games at Pittodrie this season as their home form continued to disappoint in Saturday?s 1-0 defeat to Dundee United.
The Dons were again the architects of their own downfall with Tommy Wright?s moment of madness costing Jimmy Calderwood?s side dearly. The former Darlington striker was guilty of inexplicably handling the ball in his own box just after half time which allowed Francisco Sandaza to net the only goal of the game from the spot.
The Aberdeen players have got to cut out these individual mistakes that have plagued their start to the new season. It doesn?t get any easier for Jimmy Calderwood with two difficult matches against Kilmarnock in the CIS Cup on Wednesday followed by a trip to Celtic Park but the Red Army will be looking for a huge improvement from their team.
